Enhanced DBS Checks with AoN And Personnel Checks for £59
Need an Enhanced DBS? We’ve partnered with Personnel Checks to help you apply for and secure Enhanced DBS Checks without a markup on the price.
We offer an exclusive discount rate on Enhanced DBS (eDBS) Checks. To benefit from the offer, all you need is a profile on the Army of Nannies site.
Government eDBS price increases are coming
If you don’t have an eDBS or your eDBS is getting close to two years old (or more) and is not on the update services, please consider securing it by 2 December 2024.
A big jump in costs from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) is on the horizon. The DBS (a government body) will increase the fee on 2 December.
The projected new DBS fees are as follows:
- Enhanced DBS: increasing from £38 to £49.50
- Update Service: increasing from £13 to £16
Our provider will increase their fees from £59 to £70 to pass on the cost, but they will not increase their admin fee.
It’s very disappointing to see such a big jump – but this is government-led and out of our control.
Please secure your new eDBS and get it on the update service by 2 December to avoid paying more.
What you need to do to get your Enhanced DBS
When you complete a Nanny profile on Army of Nannies, you’ll see a link to Personnel Checks in your dashboard:
Step 1: Create your AoN account and complete your profile in full
Step 2: Head to your dashboard’s Match list and click through to Personnel Checks to begin their eDBS process.
Nannies need to go through an agency to secure their enhanced DBS. Many agencies markup the price to cover their admin costs. We don’t. It’s more important that nannies get their eDBS, and if a lower price means more nannies can – that’s fine by us!

A little bit about Personnel Checks…
Personnel Checks is the company that will run the eDBS checks. Here’s an intro from the CEO:
We’re a registered Umbrella Body for the DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service), guiding applicants efficiently through the DBS Checking process.
We have over 15 years of experience in providing outstanding service. Therefore, you can rest assured that each Army of Nannies applicant is in safe hands, receiving assistance with any query.
We also have a 5-star rating on Trustpilot. We invite you to review some of our reviews – we’re very proud!
Why is safeguarding important?
Ensuring a safeguarding culture in any sector is essential for safety and welfare, especially for those working with vulnerable groups.
That’s why Personnel Checks is supporting Army of Nannies. They actively encourage applicants to undergo a robust background screening before entering employment.
This means nannies have affordable access to the appropriate background checks. And families can check and have peace of mind that the right standards are in place.
Which DBS check is required?
An Enhanced DBS Check will search an individual’s criminal record for cautions, warnings, reprimands and convictions (spent and unspent).
Due to the nature of the role, this check will also include a search of the DBS’s Children’s Barred List. The police force then shares any relevant information on the applicant.

Don’t Forget The Enhanced DBS Update Service
The Update Service is an online subscription allowing holders of Standard or Enhanced DBS Certificates to keep them up to date online. With permission, employers can view this information and be notified of any changes to a DBS certificate’s status.
Once a DBS Check is processed, applicants can register for the DBS Update Service using their E-Reference number (form ref. for paper applications). Alternatively, you can register using your Enhanced DBS Certificate Number within 30 days of the certificate’s issue.
NB: The £13 for the Update Service is paid directly to the Disclosure & Barring Service. We feel this is an excellent investment.
